As our customers, members can expect expert financial advice and guidance; extensive, sophisticated and competitive products; and a trusted relationship that helps them succeed.

At Assiniboine, members find all the products and services they'd expect from any financial institution, but with great value added. In addition to our deposit guarantee provided by the Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Manitoba, we offer an array of innovative products, services and programs that further our reputation as a unique financial co-operative.

Member Communication Centre
Our Member Communication Centre offers a first point of contact for many members. Our representatives answered 212,000 calls in 2015, and answered 78% of calls within 45 seconds. In addition to communication centre representatives, we have digital options to provide members with the convenience of banking from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Branch Network
Throughout our branch network our service representatives, account managers and advisors have extensive training and the experience to build trusted relationships with members, whether they are borrowing, saving, planning or simply transacting. In our larger branches, Senior Financial Advisors have advanced, specialized wealth-management training and are experts in financial planning, investment and retirement planning.

Financial Centres
ACU has two distinct centres of excellence to serve our organizational members:

  • Our Business Financial Centre is focused on serving the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

  • Our Community Financial Centre provides specialized support for small business start-ups, non-profit organizations, co-operatives and social enterprises. For us, the relationship we hold with members is paramount, since we see ourselves as partners in your success. We pride ourselves on creative problem solving and finding a way to use finance for good. Sometimes that calls for unconventional approaches and partnerships in support of our members.

Socially Responsible Investing (SRI)
In 2015, we continued to offer socially responsible investment options for members wishing to invest their money to achieve sound financial performance while making a difference. At December 31, 2015, 12.3% of total mutual fund and security assets held by ACU members were in SRI funds. This is up slightly from 11.7% in 2014.

Assiniboine Financial Group (AFG)
The Assiniboine Financial Group team of investment professionals provides comprehensive wealth-management services for members with more complex portfolios. AFG staff work in partnership with the member companies of Credential Financial Inc. to offer tax-efficient investing, personal and corporate trusts, individual pension plans, business succession planning, estate planning, insurance and retirement-income planning, and more.

Direct Sales
Our Direct Sales division provides two service alternatives to members. Dealer Finance delivers on-the-lot financing for vehicles at dealerships throughout Manitoba; and our Mortgage Specialists provide mortgage services to brokers and real estate agents, as well as to members after hours.

Winnipeg Insurance Brokers Limited
ACU's wholly owned subsidiary Winnipeg Insurance Brokers Limited, offers members easy access to affordable home and auto insurance, while continuing to support their credit union.

We continued to invest in technology to strengthen our competitive advantage, provide superior service and meet member demand for service where and when they want it.

In 2015, we further enhanced e-services:

  • Launched the new ACU website which included enhanced marketing features on the CU@home online banking portal
  • Upgraded our mobile app, ACU Anytime
  • Updated the aesthetics and usability of the Outlook website
  • Introduced Me-to-Me transfers for Outlook
  • Launched e-transfers for our commercial members

An increasing number of members continue to choose the convenience of e-statements, which has the added benefit of reducing our environmental impact. Members have 24/7 access to their statements online and benefit from secure paperless storage.

Privacy continues to be a fundamental expectation that members have of their financial institution. ACU remains fully committed to ensuring member privacy is protected and every ACU employee must pass an annual Privacy exam. As well, we regularly encourage our members to remain vigilant in protecting their personal information.
